Tournament Rules Source Note
Tournament rules are not fully universal. Double Up Poker separates broad industry standards from the rules of a specific operator, venue or regulator.
The Poker TDA publishes widely used tournament standards, but its own materials state that TDA rules supplement house rules and that governing-agency rules take precedence in conflicts.
Use TDA for industry-standard procedure
The 2024 TDA rules cover player responsibilities, action, betting, showdowns, all-ins, table balancing and other live-tournament procedures. They are valuable for explaining common standards.
Use house/operator rules for specific products
Online operators can define disconnection policy, Sit & Go behavior, bounty handling, hand-for-hand procedures and payout mechanics differently. When a guide describes a specific platform or event, that platform’s current rules are the controlling reference for the guide.
Editorial rule
We avoid writing “poker rules require…” when the evidence only supports “TDA recommends…” or “this operator currently requires…”. This wording matters because it prevents local implementation from being mistaken for a universal rule.
