Tournament Stack Pressure Reference

This reference expresses stack depth in big blinds and shows how much one big blind represents as a percentage of the current stack.

Original descriptive reference

The percentage calculation is exact. The descriptive bands are editorial heuristics for learning—not solver outputs, ICM thresholds or universal shove ranges.

Why big blinds are more informative than chips

A 20,000-chip stack has radically different decision space at 100/200 blinds than at 1,000/2,000 blinds. Big-blind normalization makes those states comparable.

Why the bands are not strategy commands

A 10 BB stack on a Double Up bubble can face very different incentives from 10 BB early in a winner-take-most event. Antes, position, payout structure, stack distribution and opponent behavior must be layered on top.
