Effective Stack Definition
Read the plain-language concept.
Open →Effective stack is the smaller relevant stack between two players. Enter your stack, the big blind and one or more opponent stacks to see the amount actually contestable in each matchup.
Effective stack versus an opponent = the smaller of your stack and that opponent's stack.
You cannot lose more than you possess, and you cannot win more from one opponent than that opponent possesses. Effective stack therefore constrains all-in exposure and helps define the relevant stack depth for strategic decisions.
