Satellite: a tournament that awards entry, a ticket or a package to another event instead of—or in addition to—ordinary cash prizes.
Why it matters
When multiple qualifying positions award the same seat value, satellite bubbles can create survival incentives similar to Double Up tournaments. Extra chips beyond what is needed to qualify may have limited prize value.
